This is a short research activitiy that involves practicing the ideas presented in lecture and readings.
For the first part, I want you to find a drawing, painting or sculpture that tells us something very clear - so we
can't mistake what that artist is trying to convey.
Next I want you to find a second work, using the EXACT SAME MATERIALS, that is so obscured that we can’t
understand what the artist is saying at all.
Something with very clear and direct meaning, and something that is much harder to read.
What it is about and what kinds of materials (painting, drawing, sculpture) the artist uses it is up to you.
Try and chose content that is meaningful to you in some way.
You can’t do this wrong. Whatever you choose will contribute to your section’s discussion.
Remember: If you chose a painting, choose another painting, if you chose a drawing, choose another drawing,
if you chose a sculpture, choose another sculpture.
