Current Health Issues

Current Health Issues Portfolio Assignment-Reflective ‘weekly’ writing (20%)

  • MUST be completed and submitted to Blackboard-Learn on each of the
assigned weeks to be considered for the final portfolio submission grading
(weekly - Jan 21, Jan 28, Feb 4, Feb 11, and Feb 25). The entire compiled
portfolio (including the 6th reflection) is to be submitted for grading to
    Blackboard-Learn Monday March 4th.
    How to write the assignment.
For this assignment, you are required to gather online newspaper ‘clippings’ on one or
more women’s health issue(s) that interests you over 5 assigned weeks (5 ‘clippings’ in
    total).
The ‘clippings’ may be about a singular women’s health issue or several health issues
    related specifically to women.
These 5 online newspaper ‘clippings’ should be from a combination of local, provincial,
national, and international women’s health events/issues, as well as being credible news
    sources (when in doubt-ask!)
Once you have carefully read/studied each newspaper ‘clipping’, you are to write in the
assigned week a short reflection about that ‘news-clipping’ (be sure to include an entry
date for each reflection, and a hyperlink to the ‘news-clipping’). NOTE: this
assignment is reflective writing, and NOT simply a recap of each news article.
Each of the five reflections should be approximately 200-250 words in length (worth 3
marks each). Note - when grading, I am looking for development in your
thoughts/analysis as you progress through the course.
Then, after 5 weeks of collecting and writing reflections, in the 6th assigned week, write a
final reflection/summary on the issues you have explored (250-350 word maximum) - (5
    marks) – again, please date.
To be considered for grading, you must both submit each of the 5 weekly reflective
writings on their individual due dates to Blackboard-Learn, and then submit your entire
Portfolio Assignment on Mar 4 through Blackboard-Learn.
The final graded assignment MUST be submitted as a single assignment.
This assignment will be graded on critical thought/reflection progression, depth of
analysis, along with the standard technical aspects of writing and presentation.
