Dance/Anatomy
Read Mabel Todd 'The Thinking Body" - only source - pick several chapters of your choice
This assignment provides opportunity to engage primary functional anatomy texts in the context of our studies this year, in order to assimilate information and ideas from these authors and to practice translating thought, felt and performed understandings of the subject matter into written verbal language. Please take sufficient time to read your chosen text with care, noting your responses to what is being presented by the author. Are there concepts that are new to you? Familiar? Relevant? If so, how? Do you have questions about the text? How does it relate specifically to your experience? As you read (or after you have finished reading) select up to three short passages that spark or summarize your interest in the text. In your written submission, include these as direct quotations. Each quotation should be presented in full, with proper citation (quotation marks, page number.) You may organize the assignment in any way that seems useful to you (e.g. all quotations appear at the beginning of the document, or individual quotations followed by specific commentary.) I am interested in your considered, specific responses and questions relating to these readings. Conclusions are not required.
