  Rationale In deciding on the topics of Degrowth, Green Growth, and the Politics of Paralysis, the aim was to delve into contrasting approaches to economic and environmental sustainability. The choice stemmed from the recognition of the pressing need for alternative paradigms in addressing the current ecological crisis and social inequalities. Through these topics, the intention was to explore how different ideologies and policies shape our understanding of growth, development, and resource management. The proposal was amended to ensure a more comprehensive analysis by incorporating diverse perspectives and engaging with stakeholders from various backgrounds. Collaborating with experts, activists, and policymakers was crucial in broadening the scope of research and fostering dialogues that can lead to strategic change. Moving forward, the aspiration is to contribute to a more nuanced discourse on sustainable development and advocate for policies that prioritize well-being over endless economic expansion. Theory The concept of social change encompasses a range of theories that seek to explain how societies evolve, adapt, and transform over time. Drawing on the works of scholars such as Tim Jackson, Giorgos Kallis, and Juliet Schor, the theories of Degrowth and Green Growth offer contrasting visions for achieving sustainability. Degrowth challenges the prevailing growth-centric economic model by advocating for a reduction in material consumption and a reorientation towards social and ecological goals. In contrast, Green Growth seeks to reconcile economic prosperity with environmental protection through technological innovation and market solutions. By critically examining these theories, the research aims to elucidate their implications for policy-making and societal transformation.
