Demographic Profiles and Distributions and Inequalities of Household Income and Household Mortgage Expenditure in" rel="nofollow">in the followin" rel="nofollow">ing Local Government Areas (LGA) in" rel="nofollow">in New South Wales in" rel="nofollow">in 2011: Sutherland Order Description Instruction: The Group Project is consisted of a written group report and a group oral presentation. They are designed to assess students’ ability of accessin" rel="nofollow">ing data from census and other sources and applyin" rel="nofollow">ing the concepts, skills, knowledge and techniques they have learned in" rel="nofollow">in class to the issues in" rel="nofollow">in the real world. Students will form a group of up to four and choose one topic (from the three options) to write a group report of approximately 5,000 words (in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing charts, tables, and references and/or footnotes) and make an oral presentation of 10 min" rel="nofollow">inutes based on the key results of the group report. The group report and the presentation are designed to assess students’ problem solvin" rel="nofollow">ing and research capability, as well as effective communication capability. Students are advised that the group reports must be submitted in" rel="nofollow">in both hardcopy in" rel="nofollow">in class to your tutors at the scheduled time and softcopy to Turnitin" rel="nofollow">in via iLearn as specified above. Turnitin" rel="nofollow">in will be used to detect plagiarised materials in" rel="nofollow">in the group reports to ensure academic in" rel="nofollow">integrity and honesty. LGA (by group member ) o Demographic Profiles o Household Income Distribution and Inequality o Household Mortgage Distribution and Inequality Suggested content: 1. Demographic profiles of your chosen LGA could in" rel="nofollow">include the followin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">information: location (e.g. in" rel="nofollow">inner city, urban frin" rel="nofollow">inge, or other locational features), total populations (e.g. size, changes over times etc.), population age structure (e.g. pyramids, agein" rel="nofollow">ing or not), educational structures of the population (e.g. % of bachelor degrees and above), occupational structure (% of professional, manager, or labourers in" rel="nofollow">in the population, etc.), employment status (e.g. % employed or unemployed, % full-time or part-time), ethnic composition (e.g. % of Anglo-Celtic, Asian, or other groups), migration status (% Australia-born vs. overseas-born), and any other useful demographic in" rel="nofollow">information describin" rel="nofollow">ing the differences or similarities of your chosen LGAs. These in" rel="nofollow">information could provide useful background in" rel="nofollow">information and possible explanations for your discussion on the distribution and in" rel="nofollow">inequality in" rel="nofollow">in household in" rel="nofollow">income and mortgage expenditure in" rel="nofollow">in the next sections. You could use data from TableBuilder and other sources (e.g. community profile and council publications). 2. Household in" rel="nofollow">income distribution and in" rel="nofollow">inequality in" rel="nofollow">in the chosen LGA - percentage distributions of households in" rel="nofollow">in the LGA by in" rel="nofollow">income categories and Gin" rel="nofollow">ini coefficients in" rel="nofollow">in the LGA. You will be main" rel="nofollow">inly use TableBuilder to generate data for this section and then calculate appropriate in" rel="nofollow">indicator to measure in" rel="nofollow">inequality. 3. Household mortgage repayment distribution and in" rel="nofollow">inequality in" rel="nofollow">in the chosen LGA - percentage distribution of households by household mortgage repayment categories in" rel="nofollow">in LGA and Gin" rel="nofollow">ini coefficients in" rel="nofollow">in the LGA. The discussion of mortgage repayment distributions and in" rel="nofollow">inequalities could also relate to in" rel="nofollow">income in" rel="nofollow">inequalities discussed in" rel="nofollow">in the previous section. You will be main" rel="nofollow">inly use TableBuilder to generate data for this section and then calculate appropriate in" rel="nofollow">indicator to measure in" rel="nofollow">inequality. 4. Citations of in" rel="nofollow">information and/or data from sources other than census TableBuilder data, such as council reports, relevant publications and analysis on NSW or Australia, and research papers on in" rel="nofollow">income and housin" rel="nofollow">ing markets that could provide references to your analysis. The number and quality of citations reflect the extensiveness of your research. However you only need to in" rel="nofollow">include relevant materials. 5. Provision of the details of references (both in" rel="nofollow">in-text and full details at the end of the report) - You can choose a commonly used referencin" rel="nofollow">ing style in" rel="nofollow">in your disciplin" rel="nofollow">inary area, such as Harvard referencin" rel="nofollow">ing style or other acceptable referencin" rel="nofollow">ing style. Assessment: ? The Group Report will be assessed by the structure and clarity of the report, application of demographic concepts and techniques, quality of data analysis, correct in" rel="nofollow">interpretation of the results, extensiveness of research and citations of in" rel="nofollow">information and literature, and correct referencin" rel="nofollow">ing format. Please note that the hardcopy submitted to the tutors and softcopy submitted to iLearn should be the same version of the report. Any amendments to the hardcopy after the submission of softcopy will be disregarded. ?? Please note that each in" rel="nofollow">individual member of the group will be allocated 25 marks (out of 40 marks for the Group Report) for the in" rel="nofollow">individual component (e.g. one chosen LGA). The remain" rel="nofollow">inin" rel="nofollow">ing marks (15 out of 40 marks) will be allocated to the in" rel="nofollow">integrated part of the report (e.g. Introduction, comparison, conclusion, and citations/references). No extensions on Group Project will be granted unless an application for disruptions to studies is lodged and approved. There will be a deduction of 10% of the total available marks made from the total awarded mark for each 24 hour period or part thereof that the submission is late (for example, 25 hours late in" rel="nofollow">in submission – 20% penalty). This penalty does not apply for cases in" rel="nofollow">in which an application for disruption of studies is made and approved.
