Order Description While there have been some improvements in" rel="nofollow">in the health and well-bein" rel="nofollow">ing of Aborigin" rel="nofollow">inal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in" rel="nofollow">in recent decades, Indigenous Australians remain" rel="nofollow">in considerably more disadvantaged in" rel="nofollow">in long term health and socioeconomic outcomes compared with their non-Indigenous counterparts (AIHW 2014). Indigenous Australians experience higher rates of poor health, poverty, poor nutrition, in" rel="nofollow">inadequate housin" rel="nofollow">ing and other social and health problems relative to non-Indigenous Australians (Mitrou et al. 2014). This disparity in" rel="nofollow">in health and social outcomes is often the result of a complex array of in" rel="nofollow">interrelated cultural, economic, environmental, geographical and social factors that impact up on the health and well-bein" rel="nofollow">ing of Aborigin" rel="nofollow">inal or Torres Strait Islander people. Much of this observed discrepancy has been attributed to so-called “determin" rel="nofollow">inants of health” factors, which are defin" rel="nofollow">ined as those non-health in" rel="nofollow">indicators of life outcomes which in" rel="nofollow">influence an in" rel="nofollow">individual’s health status across the course of their life (Canuto et al. 2017). These determin" rel="nofollow">inants of health factors are listed below.
