Two years ago, Alachua County was deciding where to relocate their fairgrounds. In August 2019, they announced their decision, but before that, the topic was contested publicly with strong opinions about two possible locations.
The following two articles appeared in a local newspaper. The first article reports on the results of the County Commission decision. The second article reports on the response of Gainesville’s city government to the County Commission’s decision. The articles have elements of both evaluation and causal arguments. To begin, finish reading the instructions below then read the articles. (I have attached the two articles)
Write an essay and include the following:
At least 5 criteria mentioned in the reports that are used to help determine a good spot for the fairgrounds (according to the county, the city, or other stakeholders)
An analysis of the importance/accuracy of those criteria (you can include your own ideas about criteria for fairgrounds that wasn’t mentioned)
Who the various stakeholders (named in the articles) are, and what causes/effects do they consider for having the fairgrounds in Newberry versus in the Citizens Field/Waldo Rd. area?
