Development Process for Law Enforcement Agency

You are the acting Police Chief or Sheriff of your town, city, or county. For the majority of communities, it is not practical or economically feasible to begin with a full-service agency. The staffing and equipment costs of operating a call dispatch center alone would exceed some local governments’ entire policing budgets. So with that being said I do not want you to worry about setting up budgets or benefits for your employees. The facilities and equipment is not your concern with this project. Your main concern with this project is the population of your town, city, or county of which you will be providing the department. You must have a department that is compatible with the population. You must set up a hierarchy for the department. I would advise you to visit different police/sheriffs’ departments online and look at the way they have theirs set up. Visit the town/city website and view the population of that area. One of the most important details for a P.D. or S.O. is setting up a mission statement.
