Disciplin" rel="nofollow">ine: Nevada constitution
Like many states, Nevada elects its judges (whereas federal court judges are appoin" rel="nofollow">inted). What are the advantages and disadvantages of electin" rel="nofollow">ing judges? Would you like to see Nevada use appoin" rel="nofollow">intments in" rel="nofollow">instead of elections to select its judges? In 2010 Nevada voters failed to support a ballot in" rel="nofollow">initiative that would have amended the Constitution to create a process whereby judges are appoin" rel="nofollow">inted by the Governor from a list vetted by outside assessors. Judges would then stand for retention elections. See: http://nvsos.gov/sos/elections/in" rel="nofollow">initiatives-referenda/petition-archive/2010-petitions. Once the web page opens, click on "Ballot Question No. 1" toward the top of the page to read the arguments for and again" rel="nofollow">inst it. Is this a reasonable compromise?
