THE MODEL INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STEPS
M. Massage the dilemma:: Identify and defin" rel="nofollow">ine issues in" rel="nofollow">in the dilemma. Consider the opin" rel="nofollow">inions of the major players-patients, family ,members, nurses, physicians and other health care members.
O. Outlin" rel="nofollow">ine the options::Examin" rel="nofollow">ine all options fully, in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing the less realistic and conflictin" rel="nofollow">ing ones. Make two lists identifyin" rel="nofollow">ing the pros and cons of all the options identified. This stage is designed to fully comprehend the options and alternatives available to make a fin" rel="nofollow">inal decision.
R. Resolve the dilemma:: Review the issues and options, applyin" rel="nofollow">ing basic ethical prin" rel="nofollow">inciples of each option. decide the best option based on the views of all those concerned in" rel="nofollow">in the dilemma.
A. Act by applyin" rel="nofollow">ing the chosen option::This step is usually the most difficult because it requires actual implementation, whereas the previous steps had allowed for only dialogue and discussion.
L. Look back and evaluate::The entire process in" rel="nofollow">includes the implementation. NO process is complete without a thorough evaluation. Ensure that all those in" rel="nofollow">involved are able to follow through on the fin" rel="nofollow">inal option. If not, a second decision may be required and the process must start again" rel="nofollow">in at the in" rel="nofollow">initial step.
