Jim needs money. He goes to his 85-year-old mother’s home and requests that she loan him $100 dollars.
She refuses because he has not repaid the prior loans. Jim then files suit in civil court requesting that the
court declare his mother no longer competent to handle her financial affairs and to appoint him as
guardian of his mother’s funds. He presents evidence that his mother frequently forgets to pay the phone
and water bills, and that several times those items have been disconnected for nonpayment. Discuss
