Writing Outline:
Paragraph 1: Compare Emma and Myrtle's shopping experiences. Consider things like what they were or were not able to purchase, whether or not SNAP requirements were followed, as well as how much was spent. Put yourself in Myrtle's shoes and identify and describe at least three purchasing decisions you might have to make given your situation.
Paragraph 2: Describe at least two specific Social Determinants of Health (use the Wilkinson & Marmot Report) that play a role in the challenges experienced by individuals who rely fully on SNAP for their only source of nutritional intake. Be sure to clearly describe the determinants themselves, as well as the role they play.
Paragraph 3: An obvious solution to the food desert issue is to build more grocery stores, but this is not always feasible as they are costly endeavors. Identify and briefly describe two other possible solutions to address the SNAP/food desert issue. Consider SDOH identified in paragraph 2, as well as ethical principles in your response. You are encouraged to think creatively and try to come up with your own solution, however don't feel pressured to reinvent the wheel. If you use an existing strategy, just be sure that you cite it!
