It is important to understand people and behavior in the context of human service systems as it allows personnel to better serve the community. Human service workers come into contact with various people and they need to be able to communicate with them effectively. In order to effectively manage and provide efficient services, human service workers must cater their approach to the population they serve. For example, a social worker must be able to understand her role and also be able to fulfill and adapt in different settings. As a social worker, one works with vulnerable people and in times and difficult situations; a single approach or a one size fits all practice will not work. A social worker must tailor their approach to fit the specific needs of the client or circumstance. In order to do so, it is important to understand the people and behavior.
