Many of today’s most successful businesses such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft and SnapChat were created by students in their college dorm rooms. Many NSLS members have ideas that could become the next Google, which is why we created the Entrepreneur Award. Develop and submit your business plan, and perhaps the NSLS will provide you with seed money to help get your idea off the ground.
ELIGIBILITY
• Inducted Member of the NSLS (steps to induction completed—it is not necessary for you to have attended an induction ceremony to be eligible)
• Attendance or credit from at least one NSLS event/meeting from previous calendar year at the time of submission
• Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references
REQUIREMENTS
• The idea must be for a mission-based business, one that will positively impact NSLS or will have a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
• Completed online application.
• Complete structure of business plan, including but not limited to:
- Explanation of the business.
- Budget, personnel, target audience, location, projected future growth.
- Request for specific amount of funding and substantial justification for request.
• Maximum five (6) page essay (12 pt. font, double-spaced) - Background information on why this business is necessary and how it will positively impact the world (i.e.: identify what pain points you are solving).
- How will you use the knowledge and skills you’ve learned from your NSLS membership to successfully execute this business?
