Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development

Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development propose that humans progress through a series of eight (8)
developmental stages, each defined by an important developmental 'issue'. While the 'issue' at each stage
is important for subsequent development, the most 'important' stage is identity versus role confusion. This stage seems of particular importance because of Erikson's personal history. If you select this assignment
option, please address the following questions:
Provide a brief overview of Erikson's life history (see Erikson's biography and review other sites that examine Erikson's life history).
In your own words, explain why Erikson's developmental theory focused on both the psychological and
social aspects of development.
Examine your own life development and assess your progression through the developmental stages
through which you have already progressed (e.g., briefly discuss how you resolved the 'issues' of each
developmental stage through which you have currently progressed).
Do you think you are 'identity achieved'? Why or why not? Explain.
