"In a field that is based on the care of people in need, it comes as no surprise that many ethical issues may arise. Whether it is informed consent (or a lack there of), or the struggle to balance the spiritual and cultural beliefs of a patient with scientifically proven methods of treatment, nurses are indeed faced with a host of dilemmas in health care settings. As more people aspire to become nurses, and as significant subsets of the population reach late adulthood, they will require ample care and support. Therefore, it is important to thoroughly understand the ethical dilemmas in health care, as well as their underlying causes. Ethical dilemmas exist, they are inevitable and can be extremely stressful for the health care provider, the patients and, of course, their families. This is why, in order to prepare future nurses for such situations, there must be mandatory training put in place to, not only identify ethical dilemmas, but to also equip these upcoming nurses with the skills necessary to address and put forth the best solutions these problems."
