Objective: Recognize the consequences of ethics-related decisions in the workplace.
Leaders set the tone for behavior and decision-making in organizations. For this reason, it is important for a business to carefully consider who they promote within the company. Poor ethical decisions can affect a company in a variety of ways, including loss of corporate credibility and reputation, legal problems, fines and penalties, poor employee performance, and lack of employee loyalty. Not only will the company and its executives lose the respect and loyalty of their employees, but they will lose credibility with the public, their customers, and their suppliers, too. The end result will be lost customers, lost revenue, and lost profits. Ethical practices help companies to develop a sound reputation, which in turn helps to bring in additional revenue through happy, loyal customers and positive publicity.
