Evaluate a moral issue by comparing and contrasting two articles
Evaluate a moral issue by comparin" rel="nofollow">ing and contrastin" rel="nofollow">ing two articles on the same moral issue (M). This requires that you create a tension- that you pick an article in" rel="nofollow">in favor of M and one that opposes
M. For each article, you will explain" rel="nofollow">in the view, present an objection, and present a response to that objection. Then you will evaluate which of the two views is superior in" rel="nofollow">in relation to M.
Here is the pool of philosophical positions (if there are multiple readin" rel="nofollow">ings which are in" rel="nofollow">in favor of/opposed to M then you must pick one):
1. Abortion
a. On the Moral and Legal Status of Abortion and Postscript on Infanticide, Mary Anne Warren, RT pp. 87-98 OR A Defense of Abortion, Judith Jarvis Thomson, RT pp. 106-122
b. Why Abortion is Immoral, Don Marquis, RT pp. 99-105
2. The Treatment of Animals
a. All Animals Are Equal, Peter Sin" rel="nofollow">inger, RT pp. 123-132 OR Torturin" rel="nofollow">ing Puppies and Eatin" rel="nofollow">ing Meat: it’s All in" rel="nofollow">in Good Taste, Alastair Norcross, RT pp. 133-140
b. Do Animals Have Rights? Tibor R. Machan, RT pp. 141-153
3. Death Penalty
a. A Defense of the Death Penalty, Louis P. Pojman, RT pp.182-190
b. Why the United States Will Join" rel="nofollow">in the Rest of the World in" rel="nofollow">in Abandonin" rel="nofollow">ing Capital Punishment, Stephen B. Bright, RT pp.191-202
With approval from Dr. Miller, you can write a different essay
So you could write on Abortion: Warren VS Marquis or Thomson VS Marquis but you couldn’t write Warren VS Thomson.
