Evaluating Grade Level Writing
Select one of the passages from Writing Samples the document I attached. Preview the document and complete the 20 point Writing Conference Activity (The resource, What is Good Writing, will be helpful in determining your evaluation focus for this activity).
1. You will pick One writing sample from any grade level that you find in the "Writing Sample" material that I will attach.
2. You will then use 3 sources: (1st source - Writing Sample- I have attached; 2nd source - Assessing Writers Assessing Writing- I have attached; 3rd source chapter 9 of Strategies for teaching students with learning and behavior problems- I CAN'T ATTACH)
3. From source 1 you will pick any writing sample from any grade level. Which you will be evaluating.
4. You then will use source 2 primarily and Source 3 chapter 9 to evaluate the writing sample that you picked.
5. In your evaluation you should-1. Find the positives and scaffold with the student on steps they would take to improve their writing. 2. Look at the student's writing sample and analyze the student's skills and needs. 3. Provide a brief summary of this experience with an analysis of the student's writing and the recommended steps/activities to improve the writing.
