The purpose of this mixed method study is to determine the significance of a Summer Bridge Program at an HBCU and to determine the predictability of participating in supplemental instruction courses on developmental Math courses & subsequent General studies Math class performance.
Research questions:
Overarching question: How does the Summer Bridge Program impact enrolled students future academic success?
Sub-questions: 1. To what extent does performance in Supplemental Instruction predict academic success in developmental math courses and subsequent general studies math class performance?
- To what extent does performance in ORI 130 (College Study Skills) predict academic success in developmental math courses and subsequent general studies math class performance?
- To what extent is there a significant difference in the academic performance of females and males in a Math cohort of the Summer Bridge Program?
