At one time there were over 90 thousand castrati’s in Europe, but only a small percentage made it big in the opera world. Luckily, the men in the 20th and 21st centuries figured out how to sing in the soprano range using “falsetto”. What is your opinion about the social practice of castrati in the Renaissance/Baroque period? Remember that we too will be judged by future generations for our accepted social behavior and practices.
