Project Outcomes
1. Watch the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), to evaluate the effects of changes in" rel="nofollow">in the fed funds rate.

Instructions
Format
There is no exact format for your paper; it must be neat and organized. Prepare six to eight pages of text in" rel="nofollow">in a typed report, double-spaced. Include additional pages for any graphs you choose to use. Include a summary paragraph at the end of your paper. Proofread your paper and check for spellin" rel="nofollow">ing errors, punctuation errors, and grammatical errors.
Content
You are expected to show that you have thought about how the Fed works, in" rel="nofollow">interpreted the economy as a basis for discussin" rel="nofollow">ing Fed action, and that you have tied together important poin" rel="nofollow">ints that you have learned. Use the followin" rel="nofollow">ing poin" rel="nofollow">ints as a guide.
• Summarize Fed decisions concernin" rel="nofollow">ing the fed funds rate over the period of approximately a year before the date you complete your project.
• Show that you understand how the Fed operates.
• Discuss what you thin" rel="nofollow">ink the Fed is goin" rel="nofollow">ing to do in" rel="nofollow">in the near-term future (the next six months or a year). What policy changes do you thin" rel="nofollow">ink the Fed will make durin" rel="nofollow">ing that time period? Why? (Use macro in" rel="nofollow">indicators as a basis.)
• Briefly summarize changes in" rel="nofollow">in FOMC decisions concernin" rel="nofollow">ing the fed funds rate over the period of approximately a year before the date you complete your project.
• Describe the economy in" rel="nofollow">in terms of changes in" rel="nofollow">in major macroeconomic variables such as unemployment, Gross Domestic Product, in" rel="nofollow">inflation, and other variables you thin" rel="nofollow">ink are important in" rel="nofollow">in describin" rel="nofollow">ing the conditions facin" rel="nofollow">ing the Fed as it made its decisions.
• Evaluate the economy in" rel="nofollow">in your own words, demonstratin" rel="nofollow">ing that you have some understandin" rel="nofollow">ing of basic macroeconomic aggregate demand/aggregate supply analysis. Focus on your opin" rel="nofollow">inions and conclusions, not on what others have said. You can fin" rel="nofollow">ind numerous web sites for global data on trade, exchange rates, and other in" rel="nofollow">information; however, do not just copy some data out of prin" rel="nofollow">inted media or off the Internet.
Citations
Give credit to all data sources. You might in" rel="nofollow">include a general reference section. Cite all paraphrased and quoted comments; all statements and in" rel="nofollow">interpretative analysis borrowed from someone else must be cited. If your data and in" rel="nofollow">information come from one source, you need not cite the source of each number, but make a general statement about the source.
