Observe family, friends, or co-workers on Thanksgiving Day or on another occasion. What do you see that is interesting in terms of gender or ethnic patterns of behavior? How does what you see inform your understanding of Dorothy Smith's "standpoint" of women"?
Develop a one-paragraph sociological thesis or theory about the pattern. You must incorporate concepts from the readings that support why your thesis represents a pretty good guess about social realities, a pattern rather than an interesting anecdote about one family or one person. In other words, your thesis should seek to explain what you see, bringing together the readings and what you observe. You need not be terribly original or go outside the boundaries of what is known, but your theory should be clear, logical, and stated as a more general explanation for the behavior patterns than as a simple description of what you see. Use concepts we have learned in SOC 331 to develop your theory.
