Findings and Recommendations

This is a group research / we will do section the findings and recommendation.
Group Research Project : During the first two weeks, students will form groups with 2-3 students in each group.
Each group will identify a significant, critical higher education issue of their interest within the topical areas of the course for in-depth research. The project allows students to extend their understanding beyond the course
readings and gain more in-depth insights over one particular higher education and student affairs issue.
Another purpose of the group project is to allow students to provide and receive peer support and feedback through interactive learning. Students in the same team need to discuss and consult with each other and reach
an agreement on how to address problems and issues emerged in the process. The group homework can enhance the ability of student teams to collaborate effectively and increase student confidence about their work
and abilities. Each group only needs to submit one copy of each assignment. Completing the following
assignments represents the collaborative efforts of the team, and thus will receive the same evaluation and
grade.
The final project can be in two formats:
I. Empirical Research Paper. In the paper a student may provide background on the issue, explain formation of
the issue, discuss findings or multiple perspectives in the previous literature, gather (qualitative or quantitative)
data or evidence, explain the method of analyzing the evidence, summarize your findings, and provide
implications and suggestions to future development. A purely descriptive paper on data, trend or facts without analysis in depth is NOT encouraged.
II. Literature Examination. Students will identify an issue in higher education and student affairs, introduce
background, explain the history and current development of the issue as well as various external and internal factors that have formed the issue, critique multiple literatures, theories, or multiple approaches from multiple
perspectives centered on the issue, and provide recommendations for future research and practice. The
literature examination paper should demonstrate student’s critical analysis of merits and limitations as well as
differences and similarities of different literature perspectives, and provide thoughtful and insightful comments
and recommendations that represent students’ independent thinking.
Students, in consultation with the instructor, will determine the topic, scope, or a theme/focus of their projects.
The instructor will provide step-by-step feedback to the following five elements of the paper.
