Students will write a post that applies the material covered that week to a situation in the real world. The real world scenario can be a situation or behavior the student (or someone the student knows) experienced first hand. Students may also discuss a current event. Students will provide a brief description of the behavior, experience, or situation, and then describe how a particular aspect of the material covered can help us better understand the described situation. For example, if we just covered long-term memory and you remember in great detail where you were and what you were doing when 9/11 happened, you can describe the concept of flashbulb memories to explain why you have such a vivid recollection of this event. Then another student can reply to your post and
1.Provide additional information about flashbulb memories that was not provided in the original post (e.g., how reliable and accurate these memories are) or
2.Discuss another concept or theory that can serve as an alternative explanation for the event described.
