For all the right reasons discussions of gender inequality in academia and the media often focus on women and femininity, however, let's make a turn and shine the spotlight on masculinity instead. Based on this week's course materials (readings, video lecture, photo analysis) and your own reflections, what is the predominant model and definition of masculinity in contemporary American culture? How is masculinity depicted in mass media, social networks, movies, video games, or advertisements? What can we do about our distorted models of both femininity and masculinity? In other words, can we and will we ever leam gender equality? Why? Why not?
