1- to 2-page paper (approximately 250 - 500 words)
MLA formatting (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, etc.)

This assignment asks you to write an abstract of your research project paper. An abstract is a short encapsulation of your planned argument and avenues of investigation. This kind of paper looks to answer the what and how of your research project by discussing what you propose to argue (critical researched argument) or to investigate (researched topic) as well as how you propose to find the conversations and texts foundational to your argument/ topic. You should consider what methodologies you anticipate using as well. Abstracts are usually presented in APA formatted papers rather than MLA papers; however, for this class, an abstract can be a useful tool in guiding your research and in formulating your argument.

An abstract for this paper will be at least two full paragraphs to incorporate the two aspects of your proposal as noted above (the what and the how). You may wish to include questions you seek to answer, texts and authors that you will analyze, arguments that currently leave gaps in the conversation that you intend to fill, and what writing tools (rhetorical strategies, devices, and/ or theoretical lenses) that you intend to use or that you intend to analyze. You may include a keywords section at the end of this paper. Be sure you are as specific as possible and to give a contextual background to your audience so that they can see why you are investigating this topic or constructing this argument. You do not need a Works Cited for this assignment.
