GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT PROJECT AUTO SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYSIS The primary objective of the project is to explore in" rel="nofollow">in detail the auto supply chain" rel="nofollow">in in" rel="nofollow">in the country assigned to your team. This entails three main" rel="nofollow">in activities: 1. Literature research:  Detailed literature analysis should be done to answer some fundamental questions and issues  Journals should be a mix of academic and in" rel="nofollow">industry (trade) journals and authentic Internet sources. Some journals in" rel="nofollow">in the supply chain" rel="nofollow">in area in" rel="nofollow">include: (1) Journal of supply chain" rel="nofollow">in management, (2) Supply chain" rel="nofollow">in management – an International Journal, (3) Supply chain" rel="nofollow">in management review, (4) Sloan Management Review, (5) Interfaces, (6) Decision Sciences, (7) Harvard Busin" rel="nofollow">iness Review, (8) Supply chain" rel="nofollow">in digest, (9) McKin" rel="nofollow">insey Quarterly, (10) AMR Research reports, (11) Journal of Operations Management, (12) Production and Operations Management, (13) California Management Review, (13) Economist, (14) Wall Street Journal, and (15) strategy + busin" rel="nofollow">iness, (16) Economist and (17) Journals / News papers in" rel="nofollow">in the country of study.  The research paper should summarize key fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings from the literature References should be professionally formatted. APA format is preferred.  The issues that you should focus on should in" rel="nofollow">include (but not limited to the followin" rel="nofollow">ing) a. Structure of the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry supply chain" rel="nofollow">in i. Could in" rel="nofollow">include 2-wheeler market too b. Major players (domestic and foreign) and key success or competitive factors c. Main" rel="nofollow">in models (domestic and foreign) d. Import versus export in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing border and custom issues, foreign exchange etc e. Competitiveness of the auto-in" rel="nofollow">industry in" rel="nofollow">in the country f. Enablers and in" rel="nofollow">inhibitors of competitive advantage g. Unions and wage rates and other cost issues 1/2 h. Supplier management i. Raw material availability j. Quality of labor / train" rel="nofollow">inin" rel="nofollow">ing and education k. Influences of cultural and social factors and value systems on busin" rel="nofollow">iness/competitiveness l. Logistics in" rel="nofollow">infrastructure m. Other relevant issues (ex. Green in" rel="nofollow">initiatives etc..) 2. Fact fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ing through in" rel="nofollow">interview(s) and/or available date base of in" rel="nofollow">information:  This in" rel="nofollow">includes talkin" rel="nofollow">ing to experts in" rel="nofollow">in the area about the issues raised and documentin" rel="nofollow">ing their thoughts  Researchin" rel="nofollow">ing through ASU library any surveys or other forms of published data bases that can throw more light on the topic. 3. Structure guide: You may structure your report as follows • Executive summary • Introduction • Literature, Empirical Research and Analysis: this section should summarize your fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings about the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry in" rel="nofollow">in the target country based on your literature review and where applicable, in" rel="nofollow">interviews with experts about the country. Your focus will be to in" rel="nofollow">inform the reader about the factors listed in" rel="nofollow">in poin" rel="nofollow">int 1 (a-m) above. You do not necessarily have to cover all the factors but must focus on relevant supply chain" rel="nofollow">in management issues in" rel="nofollow">in the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry of the country. In addition to other factors listed above, I expect to see a discussion of the country’s cultural and social factors and value systems and their in" rel="nofollow">influence on busin" rel="nofollow">iness and competitiveness of the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry. Questions that you may consider addressin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">in this section may in" rel="nofollow">include, but not limited to: o What is the structure of the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry in" rel="nofollow">in the country? Who are the major players? What are the main" rel="nofollow">in models? What is the state of the logistics in" rel="nofollow">infrastructure? What is the availability and quality of labor for the in" rel="nofollow">industry? How is the supply base structured? Where do raw materials supplies for the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry come from? What is the domin" rel="nofollow">inant cultural orientation and value systems etc. etc. o Most importantly, in" rel="nofollow">in order to get an excellent grade, it is not sufficient to simply answer the above questions. I will be lookin" rel="nofollow">ing for the analysis of what all these mean with regards to the competitiveness of the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry. In other words, you must be able to answer the “so what” questions. For example, if you describe the cultural orientation of the country as bein" rel="nofollow">ing xyz. I would expect you to go further by discussin" rel="nofollow">ing the implications of such a cultural orientation on the competitiveness of the auto in" rel="nofollow">industry. • Conclusion: present a summary of the most in" rel="nofollow">intriguin" rel="nofollow">ing fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings of your research report etc. and implications. How is the in" rel="nofollow">industry likely to develop in" rel="nofollow">in the future?
