Greeks   Order Description   The Greeks are known for their ability to materialize democracy. The down side to their democracy is they believe that it can exist even when slaves are not free and that women do NOT need full political rights. It should not surprise us when centuries later many western democracies (United States) also allowed slavery and the negation of women’s rights. That still happens in our democracy. The point is they are not perfect but they did get the ball rolling and we must understand the roots of western political and philosophical thought that got us to where we are today. The invented a mythology that has stood the test of time and has enticed those have come thousands of years later. Their art is the basis for western taste. 1.
