Henry Cabot Lodge and Woodrow Wilson were two influential figures in American politics during the early 20th century. Both men had deep-rooted beliefs about U.S. foreign policy, with Lodge being a conservative Republican and Wilson being a progressive Democrat. One of the major differences between them was their stance on internationalism as it related to U.S. involvement in world affairs; Lodge favored an isolationist approach while Wilson advocated for increased global engagement and eventually led the United States into World War I to make the world “safe for democracy”.
