Looking into Meagher's life, I found out that he'd played a major part in the Irish Rebellion of 1848, something that had condemned him to being executed. With my paper, I intend to find out how Meagher managed to escape his fate, immigrate to America and rise up the ranks of its military, assimilating well enough that the was given a govemment position. Irish immigrants like Meagher did not have an easy time assimilating once they got to America, so what made Meagher standout and help contribute to the acceptance of his fellow countrymen?
