Homogeneity of Variance Assumption

When using the test for homogeneity of variance, basically four outcomes or options can be considered if a
violation of the homogeneity of variance assumption is violated. These include:
Option 1:
Since a violation of the homogeneity of variance assumption occurred, the independent t-test may not be
the appropriate statistical procedure for analysis of data. Therefore, we may opt for a lower order nonparametric statistical test.
Option 2:
Since a violation of the homogeneity of variance assumption occurred, the independent t-test may not be
the appropriate statistical procedure for analysis of data. Therefore, we will abandon the test all together.
Option 3:
Even though we violated the homogeneity of variance assumption, we will continue to use the parametric
measure due to the robust nature of the tests.
