How do men and women differ in their leadership styles? Do men and/or women prefer different styles in their supervisors? What evidence do you have for your answers?
leadership is about influence and maximizing the efforts of others towards achieving a common goal. Remember that leadership comes in all shapes and sizes. It is not necessarily based on one's level with the organization or position within the hierarchy. Leadership and management are not synonymous. Good management is necessary within all organizations. While not a complete list a manager needs to plan, coordinate, solve problems, hire staff, and monitor progress. Typically, managers manage things. On the other hand, leaders lead. Leadership stems from social influence, not authority or power. While power can be instrumental in organizational success, it is only part of the equation. Leaders help followers maximize efforts towards reaching a common goal.
