Consider how your two (or more} texts deal with gender and sexuality. “Gender” deals with masculinity |
and/or femininity or trans possibilities in between or outside of masculinity and femininity; sexuality covers :
anything from heterosexuality to homosexuality and anything in between. You do not have to cover all i
possibilities of gender and sexuality, but you do have to address how some instances of gender and |
sexuality have been critical to your chosen texts.
Option 2: !
Consider how two (or more) of the texts represent the immigrant or refugee experience. Compare how the
texts represent the challenges of cultural assimilation, as well as the economic, social, and/or linguistic
barriers that complicate the process of assimilation. How is the difference between immigrant/refugee
experiences and the lives of already settled populations in the country of settlement depicted either visually
or textually? What does assimilation look like between these texts?
