Hypothesis Testing

Michelle Edwards
For this week’s discussion, I work in inpatient vascular surgery. Almost all of our patients are on some sort of anticoagulant/ antiplatelet medication. A hypothesis study I would use would be the benefit of using Apixaban (Eliquis) with an aspirin background vs Clopidogrel (Plavix) in the setting of reducing primary thrombosis and restenosis in patients with peripheral artery disease (Biagioni et al., 2020).
Ha: Eliquis with ASA would prevent thrombosis and restenosis.
Hb: Eliquis with ASA would not be beneficial in thrombosis and restenosis prevention.
In the study, I would have a group of patients, male and female, that are post operative infrapopliteal angioplasty as the test group which would receive the Eliquis with ASA and the second group would be the control group that would receive the Clopidogrel. If the null hypothesis is undesirable, then the Eliquis did not work and if it is desirable, then the Eliquis did work.
