This assignment is going to demonstrate your ability to fully utilize the skills and techniques taught throughout
the semester to highlight the different aspects of images and how they all work hand in hand to convey a
feeling. Within your analysis you should point out all the choices made by the photographer (framing,
composition techniques, perspective, lighting, colors and exposure) and why you think these choices were
taken. You will also underline the feeling that you think the image conveys, and why it made you feel that way.
Always focus on Why and How when writing your essay.
Comparative analysis: Compare two images to provide a critical and theoretically-informed analysis of the
different aspects and techniques used by the photographer. You will then compare the two images in term of
the technical aspects and the feeling conveyed. Your input as a photographer is also needed, therefore at the
end you would state what would you keep the same or what would you do differently if you were taking the
photos instead of the photographers.
