Impaired bile formation (cholestasis)

A family friend has recently learned they have cholestasis, a condition that results in impaired bile formation. They know you are studying a Human Physiology topic and want to know more about bile and its role in the digestion of fats.
a) Describe the role of bile in fat digestion. Include in your answer what causes the release of bile, where it is released and how it functions in the digestion of fats. (6 marks)
b) Some research suggests that individuals with cholestasis may also have decreased gastric acid and pepsin levels. Explain how decreased gastric acid and pepsin levels might impact digestive processes within the stomach. (4 marks)
