Using inclusive design criteria to conduct a post-occupancy evaluation (POE).
For this project, locate a building on campus or in your community. Within this building select one area such
as a reception area, an open office, or another single space (ie. Hospitality space, retail space, and so on).
Ask for permission to evaluate the space. Take some pictures of the space, and then make an appointment
to talk to one or more users of this space (an employer, customer, or one of the visitors). For example, a
reception area will include a receptionist, those who walk to other offices, and those who wait in the
reception area. If it is impossible to arrange for an interview, you may choose to evaluate through
observation.Evaluate the space according to the following inclusive design criteria:
o Identify barriers faced by an individual by evaiuating the space using inclusive design criteria
o Formulate your design idea(s) based on the method you used to obtain the needed information
o Practice co-design using Inclusive design Criteria
o Summarize your experience in a report, including pictures, of now more than 1200 words.
