Increased accountability metrics

Based on Kezar (2013) and other available references,

How do administrators predict what problems have the potential to occur at their institution?

Predicting potential problems is something that administrators have to deal with as leaders of an institution. Having the right plans in place to help lesson the impact on the institution and its staff and students is a must. Kezar (2013) states that "Through administrators’ professional net-works and associations, they tend to perceive which universities are successful and imitate their approaches to particular dilemmas, financial constraints, or issues such as the notion of a high-quality education." This type of thinking allows administrators the opportunity to mimic other universities so that they do not make the same mistakes. For example, one potential problem is keeping up with the building structures on campus. Building structures need routine maintenance and checkup often throughout the year. If your institution is in a colder climate administers have to think about keeping building warm in the winter as well.

What factors do administrators review in order to perform trend analysis?

NASPA-National Association of Student Personal Administration (2017) states that research done on 25 universities and colleges shows that the administrators review trend analysis to make sure that they:

Increase undergraduate retention and improving enrollment management
Have strong partnership between campus functions, particularly information technology and institutional research
Have adequate allocation of resources for staff to effectively address the findings produced from predictive models
Offer continuous training and support for personnel who collect, analyze, or utilize data
Have the capacity to connect data across systems or within one system; and
Increased accountability metrics, such as performance-based funding.
This type of analysis helps them to keep up with trends that are shaping the way institutions collect data that will help them to stay current on changes being make in the ever-changing world of higher education.
