Part B: Write a five-paragraph academic essay of 450 – 650 words on the following topic:
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Many people found it hard to balance their responsibilities in their workplace and at home. Is work-life balance necessary? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
Supporting points and in-text citations are allowed from only articles in the reading selection in Part A. No other sources should be included.
Assignment Guidelines
A. Essay Structure:
i) Introductory paragraph: should include a statement of the issue, general background information, a thesis statement and an overview of the argument(s)/ main points
ii) Body paragraphs: should contain 3 body paragraphs, each containing a clear topic sentence, with logical elaboration and relevant supporting citations
from sources
iii) Conclusion paragraph: should consist of a brief summary of the points covered plus a final comment
iv) Reference list: should include all sources cited in the essay in proper APA format
B. Essay requirements:
i) A minimum of 2 sources and a maximum of 3 sources, all sources must be in English
and must only come from the reading selection provided in Part A.
ii) A minimum of 2 in-text citations and a maximum of 4 citations
iii) At least one direct quotation and one paraphrase should be included
iv) In-text citations should not take up more than 20% of the essay, in total.
v) Essay should be typed in 12 point font, 1½ line spaced, with 1-inch margins and include proper
in-text citations and referencing (APA format),
C. Submission
i) Submit a hardcopy of your final essay to your tutor in your Tutorial 12 class
(Attach & sign the assignment cover sheet from the Canvas Assignment folder)
ii) Upload a softcopy of the same final essay to Turnitin on the same day of your Tutorial 12 class. (Upload only one submission to Turnitin in the Canvas assignment folder; the document file name should include your student ID no.)
