Integration Assignment #2
Integration Assignment #2
Order Description
Introduction
This assignment requires you to use one of the deductive approaches described in" rel="nofollow">in the textbook to develop a structured measure of personality. After identifyin" rel="nofollow">ing the
item format, you will use, create 10 items that you determin" rel="nofollow">ine are sound measures of the personality construct selected, and develop the admin" rel="nofollow">inistration guidelin" rel="nofollow">ines. Once
this has been achieved, admin" rel="nofollow">inister your 10-item in" rel="nofollow">instrument to 5 in" rel="nofollow">individuals and complete an APA style write-up presentin" rel="nofollow">ing a well-constructed summary of your
in" rel="nofollow">instrument's development and an evaluation of its performance.
Directions
Prelimin" rel="nofollow">inary Considerations
1. Select a personality construct, trait, or characteristic your scale will attempt to measure.
2. Carefully conduct a literature review (e.g., book chapters, journal articles, etc.) on the personality construct, trait, or characteristic of in" rel="nofollow">interest. Your task
will be to write a set of items that reflects the construct domain" rel="nofollow">in, so try to identify as many aspects or dimensions of the construct as you can.
(Note: This is a fundamental step in" rel="nofollow">in the scale construction process and is necessary to provide evidence of the validity of your scale.)
3. Consider how you will test the reliability and validity of your scale after you have constructed it. For example, you might want to provide construct-related
evidence for the validity of your scale. How might you do this?
4. Identify the item format you will use (e.g., dichotomous, Likert scale, checklist, etc.). You must use the same format for all items on the scale.
Developin" rel="nofollow">ing the Personality Scale and Associated Materials
1. Write 10 items you believe measure the construct of in" rel="nofollow">interest. Be sure to review the guidelin" rel="nofollow">ines for writin" rel="nofollow">ing items presented in" rel="nofollow">in Chapter 6 of your text. Also, review
the Gradin" rel="nofollow">ing Rubric that will be used to evaluate the items you have written.
(Note: The majority of your items should be face valid, but you might want to consider in" rel="nofollow">incorporatin" rel="nofollow">ing some filler items and/or items that assess response styles.)
2. Write a set of demographic items (e.g., gender, age) to accompany your scale.
3. Write a set of directions for examin" rel="nofollow">inees. These directions will appear at the top of the scale you developed.
4. Write a set of in" rel="nofollow">instructions for scorin" rel="nofollow">ing your scale. Be sure to identify items that are reverse-scored. Also, specify what a high or low score on the scale in" rel="nofollow">indicates
(e.g., greater or lesser degrees of the trait).
5. Compile your admin" rel="nofollow">inistration materials, creatin" rel="nofollow">ing a well-presented in" rel="nofollow">instrument for your participates to complete.
Evaluatin" rel="nofollow">ing the Personality Scale
1. Admin" rel="nofollow">inister your scale and additional measures to five examin" rel="nofollow">inees. Make sure your examin" rel="nofollow">inees do not write their names, or any other identifyin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">information, on the
scale.
2. Analyze the scale data, in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing:
1. The median, mean and standard deviation of scores
2. Item analyses as you deem necessary
3. Additional analyses usin" rel="nofollow">ing demographic variables
Report
Write an APA-style report describin" rel="nofollow">ing the development and evaluation of your personality scale. Use 12pt Times Roman, double space, and 1 in" rel="nofollow">inch margin" rel="nofollow">ins when formattin" rel="nofollow">ing
the document. Include a Title Page and a Reference page. The report should contain" rel="nofollow">in the followin" rel="nofollow">ing sections:
1. Introduction (in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing a description of the construct and the purpose of the study)
1. Should be well developed in" rel="nofollow">in 2 or more paragraphs
2. Method (in" rel="nofollow">includes the followin" rel="nofollow">ing subsections)
1. Participants
2. Materials
1. Scale Development. Detail the item format selected, why, and provide sample items. Do not in" rel="nofollow">include a copy of the in" rel="nofollow">instrument here. Refer to the in" rel="nofollow">instrument and then
in" rel="nofollow">include the in" rel="nofollow">instrument in" rel="nofollow">in an Appendix at the end of the document.
2. Scales. Clearly outlin" rel="nofollow">ine the scales applied to identify the set levels of the personality construct selected. Delin" rel="nofollow">ineate the cutoffs set and why they were selected.
3. Procedure
1. Provide a clear summary of the procedures used to admin" rel="nofollow">inister the test
3. Results (in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing a description of specific analyses performed and results)
4. Discussion (in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing an evaluation of the properties of the scale you created, how you would revise or improve your scale, and recommendations for further study of
the scale)
5. References (in" rel="nofollow">include a min" rel="nofollow">inimum of three references)
6. Appendix A – (provide a complete copy of your in" rel="nofollow">instrument for review)
