    Interest Groups Second Writing Assignment PS 103 Interest Group Paper Write a paper of no less than 600 and no more than 850 words on an interest group of your choice. This interest group must have a meaningful presence in our nation’s capital. In the paper, identify the interest group, its mission, its approximate number of members, a discussion of its successes and failures as related to relevant legislation. Be sure to explain the impact of the group on any relevant legislation or public policy issue. Be sure to include three sources with your paper. Include a reference page (this does not count for or against your word count guidelines). Be sure to cite sources using in text citations or end notes. Use 12 point, Times New Roman font. Please double space the paper. Consult the syllabus for due date. Writing Assignment 2 - Rubric 100 to 90 • Has a balance between describing the interest group and discussing the goals, purpose and impact of the interest group. • Answers each requirement of desсrіption or discussion of the interest group as spelled out in the instructions with detail and accuracy. • Shows a mastery of the English language in spelling, subject and verb agreement, use of pronouns, use of paragraphs and basic mechanics of the English language. 89 to 80 • Mostly desсrіptive in nature with only cursor comments on the impact of the interest group. • Paper misses one component of the required topics for desсrіption and discussion. • Paper is adequate but does not achieve the same level of mastery of English to warrant an “A”. 79 to 70 • Does not address multiple components of the required topics for describing and discussing the interest group. • Shows a weak mastery of the English language and its mechanics. 69 to 60 • Does not address most components of the required topics for describing and discussing the interest group. • Paper is mostly on topic but filled with errors of fact and in grammar. 59 and below • Paper is off topic. Paper does not answer each question. Paper is poorly written. Paper difficult to read due to a lack of mastery of the English language. Note: Not meeting the word count requirement (600 to 850 words) will result in at least a ten point deduction. Having two sources cited will lower the grade ten points. Citing only one source will lower the grade 20 points. Please note a different source is more than just a different section of a website or textbook. Different sources means different authors. You may use the textbook as a source. Need each the following or ten points will be removed. • Name in the title of the file. • References section. • In text citations, footnotes or endnotes.
