Select a community-based setting, and schedule an appointment to interview a registered nurse (with at least a BSN or higher degree in nursing) who works within that setting (i.e., school nurse, retail clinic nurse, home health nurse, occupational health nurse, environmental health nurse, public health nurse, health department nurse, free clinic nurse, faith community or parish nurse, advanced practice registered nurse in a community-based setting, certified diabetes educator in a community-based setting, registered nurses working with health-care related organizations/associations, i.e. the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, the United Way, etc.).

Prepare your questions according to the assignment and grading rubric criteria shown below. Upload your interview transcript summary (no more than twelve [12] pages, double spaced, Times New Roman font, 12-point font) to the assignment submission link in Week 10 of your Blackboard course shell.
1.Develop five to ten (5-10) tailored questions based on the setting selected for the interview.
2.Describe the environment / setting where the community / public health nurse works.
3.Describe the community / public health nurse’s role and the resources available to support the nurse in his/her role.
4.Describe the initiatives that the nurse is working on and explain whether they are population-based or individualized. Explain how they align or do not align with Healthy People 2020.
5.Describe the health promotion elements of the nurse’s role.
6.Discuss how the nurse uses interdisciplinary collaboration to support his/her role. Identify the interdisciplinary team members who are involved in promoting the community health initiatives within this setting.
