Irritable bowel syndrome diet modification and analysis

Review of Diet Modifications and Analysis
Modification
• Focused on dental health and not intended to replace the services of a registered dietitian
• The client’s lifestyle and background must be considered when one is making recommendations
• If dietary recommendations are compatible with the client’s normal diet, the client is more likely to comply
Analysis
• To help a client understand the role of nutrition in his or her dental and general health
• Client must keep a diet diary for about 3 days
• Client must record every food eaten, including the amount, how the food was prepared, and when it was
eaten
• Dental team then reviews the completed diary with the client, analyzing the diet
• Synthesis, analysis, and evaluations were clearly presented and supported in an effective manner. • A referral
will be required; however, in the meantime, provide diet modifications and analysis for the constructed scenario
until the client is able to consult their family physician and/or registered dietician
• Be sure to provide enough detail to display the critical thinking process
