For this forum, I'd like you to consider and respond to two different questions/issues.
First, in his Ted Talk, Justin Gunther talks about "frisson" (Fr. for "shiver") or the aesthetic chills that he
experienced the first time he visited the city of Atlanta. Have you ever had a similar experience visiting a place
or monument. This might be some place or thing you traveled to see, perhaps only once, or it might be a
place/monument that you experience (or experienced in the past) on a more regular basis. Why do you think
you felt that way about that place/monument?
Second, I'd like you to consider your local and/or regional environment. Can you think of any examples of
BOTH tangible and intangible cultural heritage that you feel needs protection OR that you know that there are
current efforts (local, state, national or even global) to protect? Why do you think these examples of cultural
heritage deserve protection? What do they contribute to both a local and global sense of shared heritage and
culture?
