Law Assigment wk10
The Effects of the ADA on Higher Education Practices Camden applies to a prestigious music program at Central State University. As part of the admissions process, applicants must videotape themselves in a musical performance without any assistance. This requirement is designed to prevent some students from producing a polished and professional video, which would make for an unequal field for other candidates. However, Camden is blind, and it is not possible for him to accomplish this task without assistance. Although he has a disability, he has been successful in school and in music training. He requests an accommodation for assistance from another person in running the camera while he performs. Consider what action the music program and Central State must take regarding Camden’s request. Requests for accommodation occur regularly in higher education and, as a leader, you must be prepared to respond appropriately and within the law. For this module’s Assignment, you will consider how the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) affects higher education. To Prepare Review the Learning Resources, including the sections from Kaplin and Lee’s book. Consider how the ADA affects students, faculty, staff, and colleges and universities.
