Select a critical event involving a law enforcement agency at any time in U.S. history. Students will contrast/compare the event against the failures identified in the first half of the semester readings. Students will collect data to identify and support their discussion on the failures associated with the event. If some failures are not present in the event the student should explain why. Students will fully discuss the failures and address how the failures originated and the results and impact of the failures on the police department and the community. Discuss how leadership (or lack of) directly impacted the outcome of the event. identify and discuss the specific decisions, procedures and policies that occurred before, during and after the event. Students will discuss how the failures might have been prevented and solutions for preventing such failures in the future.
