Leadership Crisis

Leaders are often tested in times of crises, whether in terms of an event, such as a financial crisis, or within the organization, such as a product recall. Effective leadership skills are always in demand, but especially in times of crisis.

Discuss what you think the most effective leadership skill is in a crisis, and why.

Sample Solution

I believe that the most effective leadership skill in a crisis is adaptability. It is important for leaders to be able to adjust and pivot their strategies in response to changing circumstances, and to quickly identify new solutions when needed. In times of crises, it can often be unclear what strategy or solution will work best, so being flexible and open-minded allows leaders to evaluate all options before deciding on a course of action. Additionally, being able to adapt quickly also allows leaders to respond promptly once an issue has been identified – which can make all the difference between successfully mitigating a crisis or allowing it escalate further.
