Letter to the Editor: New York Bans Alcohol Ads on Most City Property

In your letter, use the business letter format. This will include return address, date, inside address, salutation, body, and closing. You don’t have the name of a person you can address the letter to, so just use a general term. Address the issue in the article that you are passionate about. Make your argument clear and to the point. Remember your audience, the common newspaper reader. This needs to be at least one page long. But keep it short because a newspaper won’t publish a three-page letter. But since you are writing a short piece, make sure it is clear and thorough in fewer words. Short doesn’t mean sloppy. I will be looking for how well you can communicate in a short format. Also, look up any facts or data you may need to refute or agree with the author’s arguments.
