Analyze these speeches, and speculate about who might have written them, at what point in history, and
with what purpose. Explain what particular words tipped you off, and why. Getting the author “right” isn’t as
important as analyzing the text for themes and meanings. Once you have analyzed the texts, compare them to
each other and reflect on how the use of language might have changed over time.
